Free rein for fossil fuels? Oh, hell no!

A new bill is being introduced into the U.S. Senate that would make the fossil fuel industry untouchable!

Contact your representatives immediately and urge them to stop this bill!

Senator Ted Cruz, a well known oil lobbyist, has introduced a new bill to the U.S. Senate named, S. 4340, “Stop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026”. The bill sets to shield the fossil fuel industry against any type of liability:

“To prohibit liability against those engaged in the mining, extraction, production, refinement, transportation, distribution, marketing, manufacture, or sale of energy for damages or injunctive or other relief from the use of their products, and for other purposes.”

Do you want the fossil fuel industry to get away with this?

We don’t!

And let’s take a look at how exactly energy is defined in this bill:

“(2) ENERGY.—The term ‘‘energy’’ means crude oil, natural gas, lease condensates, natural gas liquids, refined petroleum products, or coal.”

In other words, the fossil fuel industry, and also anyone making ads, transporting their oil, etc., would be shielded from any type of lawsuit, basically putting the entire fossil fuel industry above the law.

This bill aims to undo every single victory this planet had in the last decade, and more.

“DISMISSAL OF PENDING ACTIONS.—Any qualified liability action that is pending on the date of enactment of this Act shall be immediately dismissed by the court in which the qualified liability action is brought or is currently pending.”

“EFFECT ON STATE LAWS.—Each energy penalty law is void and of no effect.”

The Deepwater Horizon’s oil spill was a huge disaster,

killing eleven workers, and today, if this bill is passed, would

allow the oil company to get away with it, with full immunity.
